Best time to ski in Going am Wilden Kaiser

Going’s lifts open from December to April, but for the best chance of fresh snow, head here mid to late January. Or, you want to treat the kids to a Christmas to remember, Going really turns on the festive cheer in December. Market stalls are crammed full of shiny gifts, and fairy lights twinkle. Simply magic! For a good deal, try late March and April. Fresh dumps are less frequent, but with over 1,8000 snow-making machines across the Wilden Kaiser region, you can still shred some peachy powder.

Things to do in Going am Wilden Kaiser

It’s not all about skiing here in Going - there are plenty of other activities to try too. A highlight is the Astberg toboggan run which treats you to 4.5 kilometres of pure downhill adrenaline. Or why not test your skills on the ice rink - are you the epitome of Torvill and Dean or more Bambi on ice?! For something more relaxing, cosy up on the back of a horse-drawn sleigh and take in the spectacular views. In the evenings, the atmosphere is super chilled. So, kick back, enjoy a glass of Glühwein (aka mulled wine), and share stories about your adventures on the pistes.
