Welcome to Kitzbuhel Ski Resort

Kitzbühel is one of Austria’s best known resorts, famed for its chocolate-box charms, luxury hotels and of course it’s home to the legendary and iconic Hahnenkamm, the most famous of all downhill races. When it’s on, the whole place turns into a massive party town. The rest of the time, it offers great and varied skiing for intermediates in a classic Austrian setting.
In total there are 230km of slopes – including the famous Streif – and two terrain parks for freestyle fans. In recent years Kitzbühel has invested heavily in lift systems and artificial snow-making, and now 80% of the resort is covered.

Best time to ski in Kitzbuhel

The Hahnenkamm downhill race takes place mid to late January. One to avoid if you don’t like crowds but definitely something to experience if your idea of fun is to be in the midst of mayhem with thousands of other inebriated fans.
Austria knows how to do Christmas and New Year – think Glühwein, Christmas markets and lots of cake – but those periods can be popular.
January and February offer the most snow-sure months while March onwards offers spring skiing with longer days and the chance to sit outside and soak up the sun on restaurant terraces.

Things to do in Kitzbuhel

For non-skiers there’s winter hiking in snowshoes, torchlit walks, cross-country skiing, and shopping.
Kitzbühel is home to jewellery, art and design stores, as well as traditional craft shops and sports outlets. For the true Austrian experience, there are horse-drawn carriage rides. In town there’s a cinema, indoor ice skating and bowling.
They are big fans of paragliding here and winter is one of the best and safest times to try the sport, flying down the mountain strapped to a tandem pilot.
Kitzbühel is also home to some excellent restaurants serving everything from traditional Tyrolean meals to gourmet specialities.
