Renowned for its excellent snow-sure status, you can ski from November to May at this high-altitude, purpose-built ski resort. The runs are varied too. Newbies can snowplough to their hearts’ content on the nursery slopes. And the little ones can go in search of colourful monsters, Bibo the Bear,, and spooky ghosts in the snowy play parks.

Best time to ski in Obertauern

With an extra-long ski season running from November to May, Obertauern is one of the best snow sure resorts in the Alps. That said, if fresh powder and pristine corduroy are top of your wish list, head here in February and make the most of the resort’s early morning lifts.

Want a pre-Christmas holiday to remember? The weekly Tauren Advent market in December brings all of the festive cheer to the village with live music, torch-lit hikes, and visits from the big man himself.

Not only does Obertauern boast heaps of ski-in ski-out accommodation, but you can cruise right up to the door of numerous watering holes too!

Whether you want to dance on the tables along the ‘apres-ski mile’ or chill by an open fire in a classy hotel lounge, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Peach schnapps anyone? Prost!

There’s loads to do away from the bars too. Thrill-seekers can try snow-kiting and snow-biking. Or if you’re spent after a big day on the hill, book a horse-drawn sleigh ride, and take the kids to the floodlit toboggan run - weeeeee!
