Rack up the miles in this cracking intermediates playground. A charming baroque village, Söll is the main gateway to Austria’s vast SkiWelt region, where heaps of fun, tree-lined blues and reds will keep you grinning all day long.
Newbies and mini skiers are well-catered for too. It’s snow plough central on the village nursery slopes and the Kinderland at Hochsöll is dotted with colourful obstacles. They even have a snow tube merry-go-round!
Up for a challenge? Test your skills on the Red Viper ski-cross course, or stay on the pistes after dark for some of the best night skiing in the Alps.
Nestled between the Wilder Kaiser Mountains and Hohe Salve, one of Austria’s highest peaks, Söll’s snowfall is pretty good from December to April. And when the snowfall comes up short, super-efficient snow cannons kick into action.
If you are short on time, Söll is only an hour’s drive from Innsbruck airport, and 90 minutes from Munich, so it’s a fab location for a quick mid-week break or long weekend. And if you love live music, the Söll ‘Ski and Rock’ weeks in January and March will be right up your street.
Things to do in Söll
Söll’s lively après ski scene gets going long before sunset. Ski into a mountain hut to grab an ice-cold Stiegl (or two!) and bop in your ski boots to cheesy Europop bangers. Prost! And the party doesn’t end there. Bars at the foot of the slopes will keep you dancing until the early hours.
Fancy a more relaxed evening? Head back to the hotel for some delicious Tyrolean grub and family-friendly entertainment. Away from the bars, daredevils can paraglide from the lofty peak of Hohe Salve or hurtle down the floodlit toboggan run. Woohoo!
