Welcome to Bansko Ski Resort

  • Varied skiing for beginners and intermediates
  • Snowboarder friendly
  • Big party resort offering fantastic value
Bansko is one of the most popular ski resorts in Bulgaria. But it’s not always been that way. Tracing its roots back to pre-Roman times, the Bansko skiing scene is a modern attraction for this charming historic village.
As part of the UNESCO Pirin National Park, the Bansko Bulgaria ski resort boasts wide and varied pistes with something for newbies and daredevils alike. The two main ski areas, Chalin Valog and Shiligarnika, offer runs up to 2,500m. Make sure you ride the gondola right to the top – the panoramic mountain vistas are unreal.
Want to party? Bansko’s lively bars are just as epic as the skiing – get your dancing shoes on! And if you’re on a budget, the chief attraction is Bansko’s low price tag – Bulgaria skiing is way more affordable than the Western Alps.

Best time to ski in Bansko

The Bansko ski season kicks off in mid-December and runs for four months until mid-April. The slopes are busiest during the Christmas holidays and New Year, with families making the most of the festive vibes and magical wintery experiences. It’s possible to pick up a bargain Bansko ski holiday and enjoy some springtime powder in March, or make the most of quiet pistes on a late-season break in April.

Snow conditions in Bansko

Following the first flurries of snow in December, Bansko’s ski slopes are fully established and prime to shred by mid-January. But it can be a bit chilly, so bring all of the layers! February is typically blessed with bluebird days, with more snowfall in March. But, whatever the snow conditions, Bansko’s ski resort is armed with 400 snow cannons, so you can always ski your boots off.
