New to the game? Les Saisies is a haven for first-time skiers. Gentle tree-lined pistes meander towards a cute alpine village, and family-friendly nursery slopes provide the perfect spot to master snow ploughs. Pizza and French fries, anyone?!

Those already up to speed can cruise down picturesque reds with epic views of Mont Blanc. Or put their skills to the test on a handful of blacks and off-piste verticals.

Beyond the local hills, the Espace Dimant ski area is packed with fun, relaxed pistes. But that's not all. The pièce de résistance of Les Saisies has to be its cross country skiing. Once host to the 1992 Winter Olympics, it is home to the largest Nordic area in France.

Best time to ski in Les Saisies

Set at a high altitude and close to Mont Blanc, Les Saisies is renowned for good snow. Plus, with snow cannons dotted around the main slopes, it's game-on throughout the season. The main downhill ski lifts run from December to April. But if you're cross-country skiing, you can get going in November. Allez! Allez! Allez!

Christmas is a magical time in Les Saisies with twinkling fairy lights, music, and even visits from St Nicholas. But if newbies want to experience the joy of fresh snow for the first time, March is your best bet.

Things to do in Les Saisies

Skiing can be hard going when you start out. So if the team needs a rest, there's plenty to do off the slopes in Les Saisies. Let the kids splash in the swimming pool while you soak sore muscles in the sauna and hot tub. Then grab some gooey fondue or crispy pizza in a local bistro.

Still got energy to burn? Get a bird's eye view of Mont Blanc on a helicopter ride. Or speed around the snowmobile circuit. Kids will love the Mountain Twister (a toboggan run on rails) - hold on tight! And the mini quad bikes are good fun too.
