Welcome to Morzine Ski Resort

  • Huge ski area with easy access to high-altitude Avoriaz
  • Great for groups - wide variety of runs for all levels
  • Big town with a vibrant apres scene
It’s not difficult to see why skiing in Morzine, France, is a firm favourite. Just over an hour from Geneva, it is one of the most accessible of the big, interconnected ski resorts, with the vast Portes du Soleil snowy playground available to shred. On just one pass, you can ski twelve resorts, 580km of pistes, and 30 snowparks - that’s a whole mountain load of fun in one ski holiday.
From wide-open runs and oodles of intermediate blues and reds to advanced pistes on higher ground, Morzine skiing is loved by skiers and boarders of all levels. And with so much variety, this is a fantastic spot for groups, too.
Morzine ski resort itself is a picture-postcard of old-world Savoyarde charm, and the chalets are luxurious. The apres scene is lively, too, with iconic late-night bars and clubs for the partygoers. Or, if you fancy something more subdued, there are spas, floodlit ice skating, and waterparks to boot.

Best time to ski in Morzine

If you’re skiing with the family, Morzine will be alive with festivities at Christmas, including shows, music, fireworks, and parades. While the February holidays tend to get more snow, they are the busiest weeks of the season. If you’re dreaming of quieter pistes and fewer queues, January is a great time to book a Morzine ski holiday. March is also mint if you like warmer temperatures and longer days on the slopes.

Snow conditions in Morzine

Don’t let Morzine’s seemingly low altitude of 1,000m put you off; the ground underneath is mostly grass, which requires less snow to be skiable. Plus, modern snow cannons keep slopes topped up when needed. This means that Morzine skiing is on point all season, but January and February are, of course, the most reliable snow months. And don’t forget, if the snow is running low, you’ll have access to the wider Portes du Soleil ski area, which boasts some of the best snow records in Europe.
