Welcome to Val d'Isere Ski Resort

  • Loved by families, groups, and couples
  • High-altitude and access to Espace Killy area, inc Tignes
  • Vibrant apres scene
Famed as much for its quality slopes and reliable snow as for its legendary apres party scene, Val d’Isère is, not surprisingly, one of our most popular ski resorts.
Although this is a ski-hard, party-hard kind of place and it’s well known for challenging runs and off-piste, don’t let that put you off if you’re just starting out. Home to the enormous Espace Killy ski area with 300km of pistes, there’s an impressive range of greens and blues for cruisy, easy-going descents. And let’s not forget the boarders – with 40 kickers and six lines from beginner to expert in the freestyle park, you’ll be living it up all week.
If all of that skiing has left you parched, you’re going to need an apres drink, and if you like to party, you won’t be disappointed. Fancy a quiet night? There are lots of places to chill and unwind in Val d’Isere, too.

Best time to ski in Val d'Isere

Due to its popularity, Val d’Isere ski resort can get busy during peak times – especially in February when the French flock to the Alps for their holidays – but there’s lots of space to spread out. Embrace the festive vibes at Christmas with fireworks, ice sculptures, and street parades. Or, to avoid the crowds and grab a bargain, book a Val d’Isere holiday mid-January. Hold out for a late-season trip in March and April for longer days, warm spring skiing, and après sundowners on the slopes.

Snow conditions in Val d’Isere

Most of the Val d’Isere ski slopes climb to above 2,300m, and some go as high as 3400m, making it one of the highest ski areas in France. The ski season is one of the longest in the Alps, too, lasting from the end of November to the beginning of May. On top of that, it has one of the most advanced snowmaking facilities in Europe to make sure there’s plenty of white stuff for you to shred. It really is one of the best snow-sure resorts in the Alps.

Things to do in Val d'Isere

Outdoor activities in Val d’Isere
Mix things up with extra snowsports away from the pistes in Val d’Isere. Go for a pre-dinner spin on the outdoor ice rink in the centre of town, or explore the snowy outback on Snoocs – sit-down snow karting that even non-skiers will love.
Indoor activities
From a film at the local cinema and a nosey around the museum, indoor activities are not in short supply in Val d’Isere. And you can’t go wrong with an afternoon at the Aquasportif swimming pool with a river, water cannons, and massage jets for guaranteed family fun.
