The small town of Oberstdorf is a pretty location on the edge of the Bavarian Alps. It’s one of three ski areas in the Oberstdorf region – the others are Nebelhorn and Söllereck. There are 24 kms of pistes and 38 ski trails, and Nebelhorn is directly accessible from the town. The terrain is mainly suited to intermediates, but there’s also a great terrain park with a halfpipe. Not keen on waiting around? An efficient ski bus system connects the centre to the local ski areas. The town itself is a decent size with lots of accommodation, shops, restaurants and bars to keep you busy. Not a skier or snowboarder? Not a problem. There’s a great network of cross country and winter walking trails in the valley. 85km to be exact.
