Things to do in Cortina d'Ampezzo
Besides the designer shopping, the glamour and its picture-postcard views, Cortina is also famous as the site of several first world war battles. Even to this day, old ammunition and remains are sometimes found. So when you learn there is an 80km battlefield ski tour along the old front line in the mountains – all lift-accessed - it suddenly makes sense.
As far as après goes, the scene is a bit more chilled and refined than more raucous resorts – don’t expect to come off the slopes into a bar with thumping music. But as far as eating goes, you’re spoilt for choice, with over 60 restaurants and cafes to choose from.
