Welcome to Bad Gastein Ski Resort

Jaw-dropping mountain landscapes, wide, tree-lined runs and a town with the air of faded Austrian Victorian elegance. Welcome to Bad Gastein!
Contrary to its name, Bad Gastein is actually very good! Especially for seasoned skiers. At the heart of the Gastein Valley ski area, and with lifts linking to neighbouring Bad Hofgastein, there are oodles of super-fun pistes to keep you on your toes.
And guess what! This is a bit of a freeride hotspot too. Book a local off-piste guide to discover deep powder bowls, steep verticals and narrow chutes. What’s not to love?

Best time to ski in Bad Gastein

With a sky-high altitude of 2650 metres, the Ski Amadé area gets excellent snow all season. Plus, a platoon of snow cannons will blast the slopes with fresh flakes if snowfall is scarce.
The most popular time to head to Bad Gastein is in January and February, when icy temperatures keep the pistes pristine. But avoid these peak times if you want to enjoy peaceful runs and dodge the crowds.
Check out the Bad Gastein events calendar for heaps of fun events throughout the winter season; ski touring, freeride safaris, and even snow yoga are on the schedule.

Things to do in Bad Gastein

Fancy a day off the pistes? There are plenty of other things to keep the troops happy in Bad Gastein. Soar over the Gastein gorge on a giant zipline, ice-pick your way up a frozen waterfall, or zoom down the floodlight toboggan runs.
As night falls, the town’s bars come alive, creating a lively après ski atmosphere. Warm up with an aromatic Glühwein, or get the party started with some peach schnapps shots. Prost!
And if burning the candle at both ends has left you needing some R&R, unwind with a soak in the world-famous mineral-rich thermal waters of Gastein valley at the Felsentherme Spa. And relaaaax...
