Set away from the busy ski resorts of Saalbach and Hinterglemm, Austria’s Fieberbrunn is a hidden pine-forest-clad mountain village that is big on skiing, big on snow, and big on laidback charm. With access to the vast Skicircus valley, seasoned experts are spoiled by mountain loads of varied terrain, including mint black runs and fast slalom courses. Plus, as one of the snowiest resorts in the Kitzbühel Alps, there are some superb freeride powder bowls to discover. Still have energy to burn? Best time to ski in Fieberbrunn

With some of the best snow in Austria, Fieberbrunn’s north-facing slopes stay open well into April - perfect for a late Easter break. But to catch the biggest dumps of fresh flakes, January is your best bet. The local runs tend to be quieter than large neighbouring resorts all season, and Fieberbrunn oozes festive magic at Christmas. Fieberbrunn is also a regular stopover on the Freeride World Tour - check out the events calendar in March to see the world’s best pros drop in on the resort’s steep tree-lined descents.

Things to do in Fieberbrunn

The apres scene in Fieberbrunn is fairly low-key, but if you’re fired up after a big day on the pistes, down a pint and enjoy live music at a mountain hut before grabbing some food in a local restaurant. There’s everything from wood-fired pizza to gourmet international cuisine here. Not ready to hit the sack just yet? Hop on the Timok Alpine Coaster for some high-speed thrills. Or take a dip in the heated outdoor pool at Panoramabad Tirol Camp - swimming in steaming water surrounded by snow is an experience you’ll never forget!
