Welcome to Fugen Ski Resort

The quiet resort of Fügen in the Zillertal Valley boasts ideal pistes for beginners, families and cruisers, and a relaxed après scene that is more about chilling at the spa and eating well afterwards in true Austrian style.
The local slopes go up to 2,045m, but Fügen is part of the large Hochzillertal area where the slopes to up to 2,400m. The local slopes are great for beginners and families, with plenty of intermediate skiing and advanced skiing in the wider Hochzillertal area (accessed on 10-minute bus ride to Kaltenbach).
All in, a great place for skiers, boarders and families looking for uncrowded slopes and a quiet, traditional resort feel.

Best time to ski in Fugen

Fügen itself is not the highest, so it’s definitely worth thinking about an early to mid season trip if you want to stay local. But the 10 minute bus ride to Kaltenbach gives you skiing to a snow-sure 2400m. Officially the opening dates are from mid December to the beginning of April.
The Austrians do Christmas and New Year particularly well – think glühwein and Christmas markets – and the snow is more reliable in the colder months of January and February. That said, there’s always a late dump that can often bring excellent conditions through to the end of March.

Things to do in Fugen

Fügen has its own 5.5km ‘rodelbahn’, a toboggan track where you descend on traditional wooden sledges. It’s a ton of fun. There’s also night skiing, a langlauf (cross-country skiing) course, snowshoe hiking, ice-skating, and a climbing gym in nearby Zillertal.
No trip to the Austrian mountains is complete without a visit to a thermal spa and Fügen is home to one of the better ones, with six saunas, a steam room and adventure swimming area for kids. It’s the perfect way to restore aching muscles after a day on the slopes - bliss.
