Welcome to Kaprun Ski Resort

  • Mellow ski runs for beginners and families
  • Traditional charm and non-skier activities
  • High-altitude glacier skiing all year round
Austria’s Kaprun ski resort is a first-class spot for beginners and families. With gentle nursery slopes and a sweet mix of quiet blue runs, newbies will be cruising down the Miaskogel pistes or having fun in the welcoming family area in no time.
More experienced riders will love carving up intermediate reds and blues down the scenic Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. And the more adventurous will find a few gnarly black runs and heaps of off-piste terrain to explore - with over 3000 metres of altitude, the powder in Kaprun can be mighty fine.
Set in a scenic river valley, Kaprun ski resort is steeped in history and oozes classical Austrian charm. Non-skiers have plenty of activities to enjoy in the resort and will love the panoramic glacier views.

Best time to ski in Kaprun

As you’d expect, the slopes in Kaprun ski resort are busier during the school holidays, but the magical December Advent Markets at Christmas create a fun and festive atmosphere in town and nearby Zell-am-See. If you want to save some pennies, bag a bargain and enjoy quieter slopes by travelling off-peak in early March – the longer days also mean first track runs are worth the early wake-up call.

Snow conditions in Kaprun

Kaprun’s ski season is supersized – the snow starts dumping in November, and the runs stay primed until May. Plus, if you want to get in some early or late-season skiing, Kaprun’s lofty Kitzsteinhorn Glacier is one of the most snow-sure spots in Austria and can be skied from October to July, sometimes even longer. Keen for a powder party? Book a Kaprun ski holiday in January or February for your best chance of fresh snow.
