Best ski holiday resorts for teenagers

Travelling with teenagers? We get it. They can be hard to please! But with heaps of fun activities on and off the snow and excellent nightlife for older teens, a skiing holiday is bound to prise them away from Tik-Tok and get them engaged! Here are a few of Heidi's fave ski resorts for teenagers to inspire you.
Skiiers enjoying Apres ski bar in Les Deux Alpes French Ski Resort

Les Deux Alpes, France

Why teenagers will love Les Deux Alpes:

With mountain loads of powder and a gigantic glacier playground, Les Deux Alpes is one big powder-fest!

Other things for teenagers to do in Les Deux Alpes:

Thrill-seeking teenagers will love paragliding over snow-dusted jagged peaks, messing about in bumper ice cars, and zooming through frosty forests on a husky dog sleigh. Mush! While daydreamers can grab some quiet time in the Espace 1800 Fitness & Wellbeing spa. Either way, there's plenty to keep all the family entertained in Les Deux Alpes.

What's the apres like in Les Deux Alpes:

Finish a big day on the slopes with drinks and bar snacks in the funky Motown Café, or defrost by a hanging log burner and listen to live music in the Polar Bear Pub. Older teenagers will love sampling specialist beers in CO-Coon or downing shorts in K.re Shooters Lounge Bar - bring out the shot-skis!
Man driving a snowmobile across snowy path

Avoriaz, France

Why teenagers will love Avoriaz:

Everything is within easy reach for independent teenagers, and Avoriaz's traffic-free streets have a friendly vibe.

Other things for teenagers to do in Avoriaz:

Giddy up on a horse-drawn sleigh through whimsical snowy woodlands, or rev it up with some snowmobiling fun. The Aquariaz water park should be high on your agenda too. We're talking fast waterslides and lazy rivers. Splash-tastic! And for teenagers who love a bit of two-wheeled fun, check out the snow fat-biking - the Avoriaz Alpine Ski School even offers a skidoo uplift. Send it!

What's the apres like in Avoriaz:

This family-friendly ski resort has oodles of great bars dotted around. Stop by La Folie Douce for some lively apres ski drinks, live DJs and dancing on the tables. Grab a burger or cheese raclette in Le Shooters. And Le Yak Nightclub will keep older teens bopping til dawn. Let's party!
Family skiing down ski slope in Val Thorens Winter resort

Other things for teenagers to do in Val Thorens:

Strike down some pins at the bowling alley, pot some snooker balls, and watch games at the sports bar. Cue decent old-fashioned family time together. Fancy something more active? Fly from Val Thorens to Orelle on a super-fast zip wire. Scream if you wanna go faster! And if you all need a bit of downtime, catch a film at Cinéma Du Lac Blanc, the highest cinema in Europe!

Why teenagers will love Laax:

Laxx is a snowboarder's paradise, and the off-piste scene is off the charts.

Other things for teenagers to do in Laax:

The Freestyle Academy Laax is the place to hang out if the weather closes in. From trampolines and acrobatics to skate bowls, ramps and airbags, air-hungry teens will never want to leave! Hoon it down the 3km toboggan run from Foppa to Flims to mix up the snow activities. Or head to the snowpark to hit some rails, pipes and kickers. Slow things down with a laid-back ride on a horse-drawn sleigh, or take to the ice rink. Who can stay upright for the longest?!

What's the apres like in Laax:

From fun mountain huts and relaxed pubs to cocktail bars and upbeat nightclubs, the apres ski scene in Laax has something for teenagers, young and old. Watch sport with a loaded plate of cheesy chips in Il Pub bar or order mocktails at the hip Riders Hotel. Hungry? You can't go wrong with some delicious wood-fired pizza at Camino. Zermatt, Switzerland

Why teenagers will love Zermatt:

The mountain scenery in Zermatt is absolutely spellbinding, and the food is mouth-wateringly delicious.

Other things for teenagers to do in Zermatt:

Entice teenagers away from their phones with a train ride to Zooom, where virtual reality headsets transport you to the mighty slopes of the Matterhorn. Or grab your skates for a whizz around the ice rink. Love hiking? The winter walking trails are spectacular - vast snowy plains, soaring mountain peaks and aquamarine glacial lakes await.

What's the apres like in Zermatt:

Zermatt's apres scene starts on the mountain with live music in the sunshine. Head to the Hennu Stall bar for a family-friendly party atmosphere before skiing back to the resort. Then share a steaming pot of cheesy fondue in one of the town's many restaurants. Misplaced an older teen? They are probably catching up with friends in the popular Papperla Pub.
