For a superb snowy playground that keeps everyone in the family happy, Chamrousse is hard to beat. This cluster of three French alpine villages has families at its heart, and everyone from mini rippers to seasoned oldies will have mountain loads of fun.
Forgiving greens and picturesque blues at Chamrousse 1700 and Chamrousse 1750 will get newbie skiers up to speed in no time. While steeper and more challenging terrain awaits experienced riders at Chamrousse 1650.
Speed demons can race the clock on the former Olympic downhill course. And teenagers can catch some air time at Sunset Snow Park. Steezy!
Natural snowfall combined with good snow cannon coverage makes Chamrousse look like a snowy wonderland from the Chronicles of Narnia. Plus, with west-facing slopes, the afternoons are usually bright and sunny. Look out for sunset ski sessions on selected dates; carving your way down the mountain under a golden sky is an experience like no other!
Top tip: Book a short ski break instead of a whole week if you want to keep the costs down. The resort is less than an hour's drive away from Grenoble, after all.
