Welcome to Isola Ski Resort

  • Ski-in/ski-out resort ideal for families and beginners
  • Quick transfers for short ski breaks
  • High-altitude skiing in the Alps
Set in the southern French Alps, Isola 2000 ski resort is less than 60 miles from Nice, offering decent skiing for beginners and intermediates alike.
With its close proximity to the coast, it would be easy to think the mountains here are mere foothills, but don’t be fooled – there’s a reason Tour de France cyclists base themselves here during the summer. Home to huge mountains, Isola boasts epic high-altitude skiing with 43 pistes up to 2,600m.
What Isola might lack in architectural charm, it gains in super easy ski-in/ski-out access. This purpose-built resort is ideal for families and beginners who don’t want to lug ski kit around and have everything they need on their doorstep.
Isola 2000 is a tiptop destination for short ski breaks, too. The transfer from Nice Airport is speedy, and flights are frequent.

Best time to ski in Isola

Spring skiing doesn’t get much better than in the south of France, so if you’re looking for a suntan as well as some snow, book your Isola 2000 ski holiday from March onwards. Just be aware that being so close to Nice does mean it can get busy over the weekends. Take advantage of uncrowded slopes and fresh powder in January and February. Or book a festive retreat in the mountains in December.

Snow conditions in Isola

The ski season in Isola runs from early December to the end of April. This may seem surprising for a resort so close to the beaches of the south of France, but its maritime climate is its friend – Mediterranean storms dump a payload of snow when they hit the mountains. Quite often, Isola fares better than ski resorts further north. The snowiest months tend to be February and March, with January getting the biggest share of bluebird days – just remember to pack extra thermals.

Things to do in Isola

Outdoor activities in Isola
Explore the mountains at a slower pace with a snowshoeing hike in Isola 2000. There are several routes to follow, including one across the border into Italy. If you fancy more of a thrill, slide down the mountain on the Snake Gliss, or carve through snow-dusted pine forests on motorised Moon Bikes.
Indoor activities in Isola
If you’re forced to take shelter from bad weather, the kiddies will love the Aquavallee swimming pool – they can play on the slides while you relax in the jacuzzi. Or head into town for a bit of retail therapy. From trendy sports shops to small boutiques, there’s something for everyone.
Excursions in Isola
If you love cheese, a trip to the local farm is a must. There’s also the chance to see the cows being fed and milked every evening.

Nightlife & Apres in Isola

The nightlife in Isola 2000 is fairly laid back, but there’s a handful of bars that get the party going with a traditional French apres vibe.
