Welcome to Sestriere Ski Resort

  • High-altitude skiing with excellent snow records
  • Varied runs for all abilities and families
  • Chilled apres scene
Sestriere ski resort in Italy is the more laid-back neighbour of nearby party town Sauze d’Oulx. But when it comes to skiing, it’s no poor relation.
At an altitude of 2,000m in the heart of the vast Milky Way ski area, Sestriere is one of Italy’s highest ski resorts, giving access to 400km of pisted runs in almost every direction. Drop into Sauze d’Oulx, San Sicario, Cesana, and Claviere, or cross over the border to Montgenevre in France.
Sestriere skiing delivers heaps of runs for every ability, too – terrain parks for freestyle fans, a wide range of easy to intermediate tree-lined pistes, and steep terrain for more adventurous skiers – you can even test your skills on the original Olympic Banchetta downhill course.
Thanks to playing host to the 2006 Winter Olympics, Sestriere ski resort is famed for its glut of ski-in ski-out accommodation and easy-to-reach bars and restaurants – whether you’re travelling as a family or in a group, keeping everyone together is a breeze.

Best time to ski in Sestriere

Book a Sestriere ski holiday for Christmas or New Year for tons of festive cheer. Or whisk the kiddos away for a fun half-term ski trip in February – it may be busier, but less so than nearby French resorts, as the Italians don’t have a half-term holiday. Warmer spring skiing in March and April brings the chance to relax with an Aperol spritz on sunny mountain terraces and pick up a late-season bargain.

Snow conditions in Sestriere

Being high up in the mountains and with slopes up to 2,800m, Sestriere ski resort is very snow-sure. Plus, artificial snow cannons cover up to 50% of the pistes to top up the slopes if needed. This makes Sestriere skiing a safe bet throughout the season, which runs from early December through to late April – longer than many other resorts. Peak snowfall usually hits in February and early March before the temperatures creep back up.
