Best time to ski in Kranjska Gora

The lifts open in December and close early April, but the biggest dumps of snow in Kranjska Gora are usually at the start of February. At Christmas, the resort becomes a mini winter wonderland with dazzling markets, shiny decorations and festive music. Or, for bright bluebird days, book a trip in March and Easter. This is the best time to make first tracks in the morning sun. You might even catch the Vitranc Cup and the FIS Ski Flying World Championship at this time of year too.

Things to do in Kranjska Gora

Mix things up with tobogganing, ice climbing or ice skating during your trip to Kranjska Gora. The snowmobiles are a good laugh too. If your legs have taken a pounding, retreat to a spa. Then end the day with a chilled beer. The vibe is pretty relaxed here, but if you’re up for a party, there are a couple of late night bars. Unsurprisingly, Italian cuisine has crept over the border with wood-fired pizzas on the menu. Yum! Or why not try the local Štruklji (dumplings) washed down with a shot of schnapps - Na zdravje!
