Welcome to Hopfgarten Ski Resort

Hopfgarten is a traditional Austrian resort that’s part of the Ski Welt area in the spectacular Kitzbüheler Alps, halfway between Innsbruck and Munich.
With 270km of linked pistes serviced by a total of 83 lifts, there’s a huge amount of slopes to explore on skis or board, and almost 90% are rated blue or red, meaning nice and easy groomers as wide as your smile.
For beginners there are dedicated learning zones while there’s plenty of untracked potential to keep the powder hounds happy. Add four terrain parks for freestyle fans, three toboggan runs, and night skiing in nearby Söll alongside dozens of family run mountain restaurants, and you have the makings of a fantastic holiday away.

Best time to ski in Hopfgarten

The season runs mid December through to mid April. Hopfgarten is not super high so your best chance of good snow cover is normally going to be January and February. However there are always exceptions and quite often December is a winter wonderland while there’s spring skiing all the way through March.
The resort has invested heavily in artificial snow-making facilities in recent years to at least plug any gaps. It’s worth bearing in mind that with Hopfgarten within easy reach of the Innsbruck-Munich motorway , it does get busier at the weekends with locals escaping the city.

Things to do in Hopfgarten

On the snow there’s winter hiking, tobogganing, and cross-country skiing. And if that’s too tame, you can impress your friends or family by taking a tandem paragliding flight from the top of Hohe Salve! You could also arrange to stay the night in an Igloo in the Alpeniglu village near the Hochbrixen mountain station.
Hopfgarten itself is fairly quiet and traditional – if you’re looking for dancing on tables, you might be better off in Söll. Here, the vibe is more family restaurant, tucking into hearty favourites such as Tiroler Gröstl over a stein of frothy cold beer.
