Welcome to Westendorf Ski Resort

Westerndorf is a quiet and traditional Austrian resort on the edge of the Skiwelt area. Here, you get all the perks of a family and first-timer friendly resort, but with access to 280km of pistes should you wish to explore further afield.
Beginners will love the extra slow chair lift to learn on before progressing up the mountain. The ski area is also a paradise for intermediate skiers. There are a number of blue and red runs in the resort itself, one of which leads to Brixen im Thale, from where you can take the gondola to the more expansive Skiwelt region, home to more slopes, mountain restaurants, and great views to the Wilder Kaiser mountains.

Best time to ski in Westendorf

The season runs mid December through to mid April. Westerndorf is not the highest resort, so the best chance of good snow cover is normally going to be January and February. However there are always exceptions and quite often December is a winter wonderland (especially with the Christmas markets and mugs of glühwein) and March a great time for skiing in the sun. The resort has invested heavily in artificial snow-making facilities in recent years to ensure there’s decent piste coverage throughout the season.
Price wise, Westendorf is one of the more affordable resorts, but expect to pay more during the festive period up to January 6th and again during February high season.

Things to do in Westendorf

Other activities in the region include winter hiking, dog-sledding, tobogganing and cross-country skiing. Nearby Söll offers paragliding too and there’s an Igloo village on Hochbrixen where you can stay the night. Down in the valley you can take a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride, try curling, go swimming or just relax afterwards in the sauna and spa.
There are several restaurants offering traditional and hearty Austrian cuisine. Think roast pork and dumplings washed down with a stein of beer, with an apple Strudel to finish. The après scene is more pub than nightclub, but there are several bars about, where you can drink and play traditional Austrian bar games.
