Positioned within the enormous Portes du Soleil ski area, a ski holiday to Avoriaz gives you access to an incredible 266 pistes for all abilities, 10 snowparks and 89 slopeside restaurants. And with no traffic bar the occasional horse-drawn sleigh, the town is charm itself and child-friendly too.

Best time to ski in Avoriaz

Blessed with quiet slopes an Avoriaz ski holiday in January is a great shout and it won’t break the bank. The best time to ski in Avoriaz is February. It might be chilly, but there's often buckets of snow falling.
Ski holidays to Avoriaz in March and April are loads of fun too. Portes du Soleil means ‘Gateway to the Sun’ for a reason. Think sun-drenched valleys, bowls and a great excuse for some early après!

Avoriaz often claims the title for the most snowfall in any French resort (think 8 metres of the stuff!). That’s why Avoriaz snow conditions are often excellent. January and February offer the most snowfall.
Meanwhile skiing in Avoriaz in March and April has better odds of bright sunny bluebird days. But with its long season, and high altitude, don’t be surprised by early and late-season dumps of snow.

There’s no shortage of things to do in Avoriaz to get your adrenaline fix. Try ski joering – think of it like water-skiing except you’re behind a horse. AvoKarting lets you race down Avoriaz’s pistes in the dead of night.
There’s also cross-country skiing, e-fat bikes, backcountry ski-touring and for the adventurous – underwater ice diving in the nearby Lake Montriond. For something more relaxed, head to Avoriaz’s Igloo village or hear some history on a horse and carriage tour. It's the best way to experience Avoriaz ski resort.

If the kids want some time-out from skiing (or warming up!), try the tropical-themed waterpark ‘Aquariaz’ which is awesome for families. Little ones can tire themselves out on the slides and climbing wall, while you unwind in the lazy river.

The ultimate piste side party happens at La Folie Douce. Here it's expected that you get on the tables and dance till close!
Music lovers should head to Le Shooters Bar for plenty of pop-rock anthems. If delicious cocktails and a lively atmosphere is more your style, slide on over to upmarket La Cabane.
And big groups will love the beers and bowling on offer at Le Strike.  But Avoriaz’s nightlife doesn't stop there. Head to The Place Bar or Le Yak Disco for hours more fun!
