Welcome to Les Deux Alpes Ski Resort

  • Family-friendly ski resort for all abilities
  • High altitude and glacier skiing
  • Lively après scene and traditional French dining
Say hello to skiing paradise. Les Deux Alpes, France, is a flagship ski resort in the heart of the Ecrins mountains offering some of the highest skiing in the French Alps. Jump on the central funicular right to the top of the glacier to ski non-stop from 3,600m all the way to the village of Mont de Lans without taking a single lift – that’s an impressive vertical drop of almost 2,300m.
A Les Deux Alpes ski holiday is great for beginners, with many of the easy slopes located high up the mountain. Intermediates will love the 200km of cruisy corduroy, and there’s enough steep stuff and powder potential for the veterans.
And that’s not all. Les Deux Alpes’ freestyle park and slopestyle section with rails, boxes and a selection of kickers will keep freestylers and have-a-go heroes entertained all week.

Best time to ski in Les Deux Alpes

Les Deux Alpes ski resort is fantastic for peak-season fun. Whether you’re skiing at Christmas, during the February holidays, or at Easter, the top-notch lift system means queues are not such an issue here. If you can travel outside of the main holidays, make the most of peaceful slopes in early January. And if you like a good ol’ rave in the mountains, don’t miss après sundowners at the Snow Fest music festival in March.

Snow Conditions in Les Deux Alpes

The main ski season runs from mid-December to mid-April, but look at booking a Les Deux Alpes ski holiday mid-February onwards for the best powder. January tends to be cold, dry and sunny – thermal underwear is a must – and you’ll have plenty of space on quieter pistes. This high-altitude French resort is also good for late-season getaways and warmer springtime skiing. With slopes facing every point of the compass and glacier runs high up, there are always snowy pistes ready to explore.

Things to do in Les Deux Alpes

Outdoor activities in Les Deux Alpes
The jagged massifs of Les Deux Alpes are pretty spectacular to look at from the pistes, but wait until you see them from above; with no less than three paragliding schools, don’t miss the chance to soar over the glistening snowy peaks. Prefer to keep your feet on terra firma? Hop onto the funicular and explore mesmerising sculptures in the icy glacier caves.
Indoor activities in Les Deux Alpes
If it’s a complete white-out, never fear; there are plenty of indoor activities to keep you busy in Les Deux Alpes. Make a strike at the local bowling alley, grab some popcorn and watch a movie at the cinema, or dive into the steaming hot swimming pools and jacuzzi at Espace 1800.
Shopping in Les Deux Alpes
With over 200 shops in Les Deux Alpes, a good dose of retail therapy is never too far away. The branded outlet stores are bargain treasure troves, and the chic sports shops will kit you out in all the latest ski wear. If you’re shopping for dinner, hop on a shuttle bus to Mont de Lans village market to pick up fresh local produce and delicious handmade chocolates.

Restaurants in Les Deux Alpes

Le Rustique - Warm up after a chilly day on the slopes with a feast of traditional Savoyard dishes, including steaming fondue and gooey raclette.
Le Trappeur - If you’re looking for an authentic alpine restaurant in Les Deux Alpes with lashings of French savoir-faire, this friendly tavern is where it’s at.
Croc'Cicou Snack Montagnard - On days when you’re having too much of a good time to stop for a long lunch, grab a loaded panini or sweet crepe to take away from this fuss-free snack shack.
O Wasabi Mountains - Craving some sushi? Head here for some seriously tasty California Rolls and Sake Sashimi. Delish!

Nightlife in Les Deux Alpes

The après in Les Deux Alpes is nothing short of legendary. With over 30 bars, there’s something for everyone, from hardcore ravers to fine wine connoisseurs. The après action usually starts on the slopes, but if you don’t want to end your ski holiday early, take the gondola down into town; a ski down the Valentin run after a few Aperols can be a bit sketchy.
Pano Bar - Head straight to the Pano Bar on your last run of the day to grab an ice-cold beer and dance on the tables to live DJ sets in the mountains.
Le Saloon (aka Smokey Joes) - With good beer, live music, open-mic nights, and games, this lively sports bar won’t disappoint.
Les Lutins - On bluebird days, Les Lutins Hotel Bar is the place to be. Relax on the sunny terrace with a vin chaud and soak up the chilled French vibes.
Polar Bear Club - Warm the cockles with spicy vin chaud and log burners before hitting the shots and dancing the night away to live music.
