Almost hidden away in Switzerland’s Valais between Zermatt and Verbier lies this little gem of a resort. Grimentz has around 115km of pistes from 1,570m to 2,900m which makes it a snow-sure bet. But what really keeps its fans coming – and there are many – is its almost limitless off-piste and freeride terrain. It’s the perfect place to try ski touring, with five signposted trails ranging from 450m to 1,000m in height, and options to hire all the kit in resort. There is a beginners’ area for regular skiers but this Grimentz is a resort that will suit the more experienced, with 73% of slopes rated either red or black. If you like steep slopes, you’ve come to the right place.
