Welcome to St Johann in Tirol Ski Resort

Easy slopes for beginners, plenty of cruising for intermediate skiers, funparks for budding freestylers and plenty of restaurants serving classic Tirolean dishes. All this makes the resort of St Johann in Tirol a great place for families and beginners keen to carve their first turns.
The resort is a cosy counterpart to its more rowdy neighbour, Kitzbühel. There are 43km of pistes, nearly all blue and red groomers, ideal for those who just want to cut sweet turns in the corduroy. But there is a 3km black run for anyone up for a challenge.

Best time to ski in St Johann in Tirol

St Johann is one of Austria’s lower resorts. The town is at 640m and the slopes go up to 1,604m but the season nonetheless runs from the first week of December to the first week of April. Although it is more vulnerable to warm spells, snow machines ensure the main runs are always in operation.
The snow tends to start arriving in November and the most reliable months are January and February. However, St Johann is an ancient market town and the run up to Christmas and New Year is a festive time to visit, with Christmas markets and many other cultural events.

Things to do in St Johann in Tirol

There’s always heaps going on in St Johann, an ancient medieval mining town. From onion-domed churches to museums, to simply wandering around the town admiring the fresco-painted buildings, it’s much more than just a ski resort. And there’s much more than just skiing.
Cross-country skiing is big here thanks to the wide open valleys – there are 70km of trails here. Indoors there’s a great swimming pool as well as a bouldering gym – low-level climbing without the ropes. On the après side, there are some great bars and restaurants but don’t expect to put in any all-nighters.
