High altitude doesn’t always guarantee lots of snow. But fortunately in Hochkrimml’s case, it does. Music to the ears of those wanting that bit of ski-assurance. At an altitude of 1,700 metres above sea level, Hochkrimml is the highest village in the Zillertal Arena. And with a mighty summit of 2500m, you can expect some pretty epic panoramas across the 145km of pistes. The village itself is car-free and the tamer counterpart to its neighbour, Königsleiten. But don’t let that put you off. There’s plenty to keep you busy from dawn till dusk. We’re talking fantastic ski pistes, high-altitude cross-country ski tracks, natural toboggan runs, winter hiking trails, snow parks, and freeriding areas. And with the ski bus at your disposal, connecting you to the nearby ski resorts of Neukirchen, Wald, Krimml and Königsleiten, it’s no wonder this Austrian gem is quickly becoming a favourite for ski and winter sports enthusiasts.
