Best time to ski in Kaprun

As you’d expect, the slopes in Kaprun ski resort are busier during the school holidays, but the magical December Advent Markets at Christmas create a fun and festive atmosphere in town and nearby Zell-am-See. If you want to save some pennies, bag a bargain and enjoy quieter slopes by travelling off-peak in early March – the longer days also mean first track runs are worth the early wake-up call.

Snow conditions in Kaprun

Kaprun’s ski season is supersized – the snow starts dumping in November, and the runs stay primed until May. Plus, if you want to get in some early or late-season skiing, Kaprun’s lofty Kitzsteinhorn Glacier is one of the most snow-sure spots in Austria and can be skied from October to July, sometimes even longer. Keen for a powder party? Book a Kaprun ski holiday in January or February for your best chance of fresh snow.
