Best Resorts For Easter Ski Holidays

Planning a getaway to the mountains at Easter? With plenty of high-altitude, snowsure resorts across Europe, there are heaps of places to choose from. Add a good drop of sunshine, balmy temperatures and visits from the Easter Bunny, and you've got a belter of a skiing holiday. Here are some of Heidi's favourite places to ski in Europe at Easter.

Tignes, France

Tignes is home to some of Europe's highest skiing, which makes it perfect for a late-season Easter skiing trip. And with summer glacier skiing, too, it's proud as punch of its snowsure fame. Tignes 1800 is ideal for newbies, while Tignes Les Brévières is the place to stay for a chilled, laid-back vibe. Both offer access to the legendary Tignes Val d'Isere ski area. Ready? Let's go!
At Easter, little ones will have a ball on the gentle bunny slopes and snow play parks. Ride up on the kids-only magic carpet, go for a spin on the carousel, and mess around on mini moguls. Big smiles all round!
Teenagers will love whizzing around on snowmobiles and fat bikes in the snow. The Bun J Ride is a must-do activity, too - zoom down a ski ramp and fly through the air on a bungee harness. So. Much. Fun. Or hurtle down Snake Gliss – a high-speed sledge track.

Val Thorens, France

If you're on the hunt for sterling snow at Easter, Val Thorens is one of the best - it's the highest ski resort in Europe! Plus, epic bluebird days reveal spectacular views of the French, Swiss and Italian Alps at this time of year. Beginners can enjoy snowsure bunny slopes right at the foot of the resort. And the vast Three Valleys ski area will keep everyone in the gang happy.
The kiddies will be entertained for hours on the beginner slopes. And experienced little rippers will love oodles of greens and blues. Plus, it's not unusual for Easter eggs to be hidden around the resort for the grommets to find.
Off the piste, get the adrenalin pumping on Europe's highest zipline - whizz along at over 100km/h! Test your off-road skills with some ice driving. Or fly above the snowy valleys on a paragliding tour. The sky's the limit!
Obergurgl ski resort chairlifts above slopes on sunny day

Obergurgl, Austria

Obergurgl is a fantastic destination for an Easter skiing holiday. Not only is this one of Austria's most snowsure ski resorts, but it is super family-friendly too. Happy days! Snowsure bunny slopes are easy to get to. And experienced mini skiers will love hitting jumps and sliders at the Funpark. Got older kids in tow? Berms, tunnels and kickers await at the Fun Cross course.
Widely known as 'The Diamond of the Alps,' Obergurgl oozes Alpine charm, which is the perfect backdrop for family photos that'll appear in your favourites reel for a lifetime. Five-star hotels make for a comfortable and relaxing stay, and activities for youngsters include swimming pools and playrooms.
Thirsty? Celebrate the Easter Holidays with some apres ski entertainment in Obergurgl's lively mountain huts. Will it be glühwein on a sun terrace or shots of schnapps in the bar? Prost! Alternatively, head to the village to feast on pizza and fondu after a big day on the slopes; the prices here won't break the bank, even during the Easter holidays.

Saas Fee, Switzerland

With lofty peaks reaching as high as 3500 metres and a snow record that boasts fresh powder as late as April, Saas Fee is a gem of a resort for Easter skiing. Plus, where better to gorge on chocolate eggs than the home of Lindt and Toblerone?!
Intermediate skiers will feel right at home here with glacier-high reds and cruisy blues. And if you're travelling with young kids, head to the central nursery slopes. Keep an eye out for hidden Easter nests on the pistes - the Easter Bunny loves skiing here too!
If you need a break, relax on a sun terrace with a beer and soak up views of countless snowy peaks. And don't forget the sunscreen. Saas valley is one of the sunniest places in Switzerland - no less than 300 days of sunshine a year. Bluebird days, here we come!
Back in the village, the kids can make a splash in the Aqua Allalin swimming pool while you grab some zen time in the spa. Or for something more active, the Feeblitz track toboggan run is a good laugh for all the family.
Dolomites snowy mountain range

Lech, Austria

Set at the heart of the vast Arlberg ski area, Lech Zürs is one of Austria's most luxurious ski resorts. Lech also has an impeccable snow record thanks to its unique microclimate, making it a superb snowy playground come Easter time. Nice one!
A variety of terrain will keep everyone in the family entertained in Lech. Easter is one of the best times for powder hounds. And older teenagers will be happy hanging out and making friends in the snowpark. As for younger kids, they can get their first taste of skiing on gentle snowsure nursery slopes and streams of wide blues up in Oberlech. Did you spot the Easter Bunny? He's usually out skiing with sweet treats to give away. Yum!
For Easter family fun off the slopes, take a spin on the ice rink, try your hand at curling, or whoosh down the hill on traditional toboggans. Need some R&R time? Relax in a lush spa, or enjoy a romantic horse-sleigh ride through snowy meadows.

Zermatt, Switzerland

Top-notch glacier pistes above 3,000 metres and sky-high slopes that remain snowsure long into the Spring make Zermatt a terrific location for an Easter skiing holiday. With the iconic Matterhorn dominating the skyline, the scenery is breathtaking, and a ride on the mountain railway will unveil spectacular views all the way to the summit of the Gornergrat.
Kids are treated like VIPs in Zermatt, with under nines getting a free lift pass and a whole host of special discounts with the Wolli Card. Join Wolli, the resort's mascot sheep, for an Easter egg hunt in the park. And learn to ski at Wolli's beginner's park with magic carpets and fun obstacles.
Live it up with some fun apres ski on the mountain and live music in the warm spring sunshine - look out for dates of Zermatt Unplugged around Easter time. Then head back to the resort with its charming alpine chalets, rustic buildings, designer boutiques, and swanky cafes.

Cervinia, Italy

For bright bluebird days and warm sunshine, Cervinia should be on your Easter skiing holiday shortlist. Despite rising temperatures, Cervinia sits at a lofty 2050 metres, and so is as snowsure as they come. Enjoy long days on the slopes and top up the goggle tan on the scenic sunny pistes.
Wide, cruisy runs are perfect for beginners and intermediates. And there's glacier skiing at Europe's highest cable car station, Klein Matterhorn. The groms will have loads of fun on the bunny slopes, and beginners can build their confidence on gentle greens and blues.
Ready to party? The Easter apres ski begins early on the slopes with beers and Aperol Spritz at the bustling mountain huts. Then ski back to your hotel to relax in the spa or play in the pool before soaking up the lively atmosphere in town.
And if all that wasn't enough, Cervinia offers great value for money compared to neighbouring resorts in Switzerland. Make the most of first-class slopes while enjoying lower-priced restaurants, bars and ski schools, even during the peak of Easter.
