Les Arcs, France
From snowsure, high-altitude glacier skiing to epic forest descents, Les Arcs gives you access to a colossal 425km of slopes across five resorts with plenty of rapid runs to explore. Beginner snowboarders will love easygoing blues with views of Mt Blanc high up on the mountain. And thrillseekers can send it down fluffy off-piste terrain. Bing on the pow! Ski-in, ski-out digs make getting onto the slopes super easy. And if you're seeking a lively apres scene, bag yourself a room in Arc 1800 - La Folie Douce is an all-time favourite. Let's dance!
Madonna di Campiglio, Italy
If you're new to snowboarding, Madonna di Campiglio, Italy is one of the best resorts to learn the ropes. Build your confidence on gentle bunny slopes at Campo Carlo Magno, then cruise down scenic blues in the stunning UNESCO Brenta Dolomites. There's plenty for advanced snowboarders too. Take on the challenging DoloMitica piste or test your skills on the legendary 3-Tre World Cup run. Send it! This classy resort is also big about the social. A favourite amongst Italy's elite, a glass of fizz on a sun-drenched mountain terrace is a popular pastime too. How chic!
Mayrhofen, Austria
Looking to master some freestyle tricks? Mayrhofen is home to one of Europe's best snowparks, Penken Park. From beginner jumps and a kids' area to huge kickers and smooth rails, snowboarders will never get bored. Airtime central! Away from the park, the Ziller Valley boasts perfectly groomed pistes with runs for all abilities. Beginners and families can enjoy wide, flowing pistes, and more adventurous riders can tackle the legendary Harakiri slope - with an inclination of 78%, it's the steepest piste in Austria. Wowzers!
Avoriaz, France
Avoriaz in the French Alps is THE place to go for epic freestyle snowboarding. With no less than five snow parks, this purpose-built high-altitude ski resort means business when it comes to big air and jib time! Chapelle Park draws in the crowds with features for newbie boarders, as well as seasoned freestyle pros. And The Stash offers fast-flowing freestyle runs packed with gnarly features. We're talking big kickers, boxes, rainbows, wall-rides and jumps through trees. It really is a freestyler's dream! And that's not all; the local halfpipe is on point too. Sweet!
St Anton, Austria
With one of the best snow records in the Alps, St Anton has become a mecca for offpiste snowboarding. Drop in on steely verticals and carve through powder-pumped forests. Friends, this is freeride heaven! Earlybirds will get the best rides, with first tracks in fresh snow. And a guided tour to the top of Valluga is out of this world. Let's shred! Back in the village, charming onion-domed churches, traditional chalets and fresco-painted buildings line the streets of this traditional Austrian resort. But don't underestimate the social scene - Krazy Kanguruh and Mooserwirtis are bars well-renowned for their legendary apres parties.
Val d'Isere, France
When the snow dumps, Val d'Isere really turns on the freeride vibe. With offpiste terrain in easy reach of the ski lifts, snowboarders will be sending it down powdery tracks on Les Marmottes in no time. Daredevil boarders can test their skills on the narrow twists and turns of Vallee Perdue. Or if it's a whiteout, head for tree cover on Le Fornet. And if you really want to make the most of the fresh pow, a local guide will be worth their weight in snow! The snowpark is epic, too, with an impressive 40 kickers and six lines for all freestyle levels. What are you waiting for? Let's ride!
Tignes, France
Tignes was one of the first resorts to welcome snowboarding to its pristine pistes, and it continues to be one of the best all-around destinations for boarders in the French Alps today. Respect! With access to over 300km of high-altitude slopes across the Tignes-Val d'Isère area, riders of all levels will enjoy ripping it up here all season. And with lofty runs as high as 3,400m on the Grande Motte glacier, Tignes is one of the few resorts you can ride in the summer, too! Ready to party? The apres scene is just as impressive as its peachy pistes, so grab a beer and dance on the tables! Santé!
Chamonix, France
For experienced snowboarders, there's no place quite like Chamonix in France. Cham is not the biggest, and some of the lifts are a bit long in the tooth, but when the heavens dump, the backcountry boarding is absolutely wild. Woo-hoo! One of our faves is the colossal 23km long Vallée Blanche, one of the most legendary off-piste descents worldwide. And if it's a whiteout, head to Les Houches for sweet rides through snow-dusted forests. Not got much time to spare? Wait for a good forecast and book last minute - the resort is just 45 minutes from Geneva airport, so it's ideal for a short snowboarding break.
Verbier, Switzerland
If you're looking for fantastic freeride tracks, fun freestyle terrain, and pristine pistes, Verbier ticks all the boxes. Snowboarding aficionados should head to Mont Gele for the most extreme backcountry powder. Or, for something less challenging, cruise powder fields near Lac des Vaux and seek out natural kicks and drops. Back on the pistes, you'll find everything from wide-open slopes to narrow gulleys and rolling motorways. Just make sure you save enough energy to make the most of the glitzy apres parties - enjoy long boozy lunches on the slopes, bop in your ski boots to live music, and dance on the tables!
